My Mini-Speaking Tour

This is week I had the honor of speaking at two different events: The Young African Professionals in DC and the Interntional Salon and Spa Expo in Long Beach, California.

My first stop was in DC where I spoke on Friday evening at the Young African Professionals networking event. Even though it was cold and it snowed, many young Africans attended the intimate gathering. The set-up was beautiful and ambiance was great! We mingled for about an hour and thirty minutes before I spoke. It gave me enough time to meet a few people and become really comfortable with the crowd.

When it was time for me to speak, I was ushered into a chair on stage with a small end table to hold my water. After I was introduced to the crowd, I began to speak about my life and how I started my company. I also spoke about the opportunities for entrepreneurship in Africa. My talk was concluded with lots of questions from the crowd. I really enjoyed this event. I got a chance to spend time with my best friend and her husband and also meet interesting people from Africa or who are doing tremendous work in Africa. I am excited about the new opportunities that will sprout out from this experience.

How to Create a Basic Daily Skincare Routine

When I ask many women of color what is your skincare routine, most of them say soap and water. Every time I hear that it makes me cringe!!!! Your skin deserves more than just soap and water. Every women of color should have a basic daily skincare routine.

In order to have healthy skin, you must invest in great products and be consistent with your skincare routine. If you don't know how to create a basic daily skincare routine, then I am here to help you achieve this in three to four easy steps.

For your routine, you need to use products for your skin type, skin texture, and any skin problems you may have. Your morning routine will be a bit different from your evening routine. Throughout the day you are exposed to the sun, so you will need to prep your skin in the morning in order to protect it from the sun's harmful rays.

What you will need:

1.  Facial Cleanser - If you have normal to dry skin then you will want to use cream-based cleanser and if you have normal to oily/combination skin it is best that you use a gel-based or foam-based cleanser.
